What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.16
──> Dramatic Speed Increase For Searches!
CompuSlave Version 1.16 drastically enhances the speed of
the searching routines (for the Search Entire Message
feature). Internal testing shows search speeds up to 550%
faster than previous versions, approximately 15,000 messages
per minute! For a complete list of revisions, see the file
CSLAVE.REV.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.15
──> Feature Enhancement / Minor Printing Fixes
CompuSlave Version 1.15 adds the ability for users to save a
temporary search database under a new database name after an
"Entire Record" search has been completed. Several minor
printing problems have been fixed, including a problem where
leading spaces on lines in the message body were trimmed
before the lines were printed. For a complete list of
revisions, see the file CSLAVE.REV.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.14
──> Memory Requirements Reduced!
CompuSlave Version 1.14 reduces the memory requirements
needed to run CompuSlave. This will assist users attempting
to use CompuSlave on memory-limited computer systems. For a
complete list of revisions, see the file CSLAVE.REV.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.13
──> Maintenance Release
CompuSlave Version 1.13 fixes a couple of minor problems
introduced in version 1.12, where the Delete and Modify
operations were issuing an error #8101 (Record Modified).
For a complete list of revisions, see the file CSLAVE.REV.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.12
──> More Feature Enhancements!
CompuSlave Version 1.12 adds several more enhancements over
previous versions. This version contains compression for
the message databases, reducing each message database size
by approximately 10-20%. Users upgrading from a previous
version of CompuSlave who want to use the compression should
perform 2 steps. First, make sure the "Compress Message
Data" option is enabled on the Defaults screen. Next,
select the "Reorganize Database" option from the Utilities
menu. When CompuSlave displays the file dialog box, select
the database you want to reorganize. After several prompts,
CompuSlave will reorganize the database, using the new
built-in compression. (To see the amount of space saved by
reorganizing a database, users can simply view the activity
log file.)

Other fixes and enhancements have also been added to this
version of CompuSlave. The "Search Entire Record" feature
has been enhanced to highlight the search text in the
individual edit fields, not just the message text field.
Also a minor bug has been fixed where multiple responses to
a message were not being located properly when a non-default
sort field was being used. For a complete list of revisions
and changes, see the file CSLAVE.REV.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.11
──> Feature Enhancements!!!
CompuSlave Version 1.11 adds several EXTREMELY useful
feature enhancements. The searching capability has been
enhanced to allow users to specify two search strings during
a "Search Entire Message" search. Users can select whether
CompuSlave filters messages with only String #1, String #1
AND String #2, or String #1 OR String #2. Also, after the
search has been completed, the search string(s) are now
highlighted in the memo window using a different color,
making it MUCH easier to find the needed text! A default
import path has been added to specify a directory to log to
when importing CompuServe capture files. For a complete
list of revisions, see the file CSLAVE.REV.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.10
──> Maintenance Release / Feature Enhancements
CompuSlave Version 1.10 adds enhanced search capability.
With previous versions of CompuSlave, the "Search Entire
Message" feature may not find every instance of a phrase if
the user-specified search string was separated due to a
line-break. Version 1.10 accounts for this possibility
during searches. Also, the Delete feature now advances to
the next record instead of resetting to the first record
after a message has been deleted. The temporary search
databases (created when using the "Search Entire Message"
feature) are now created in a temporary sub-directory to
reduce confusing by network users when opening multiple
databases.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.09
──> Feature Enhancements!
CompuSlave Version 1.09 adds a couple of new features. A
"Startup File" field has been added to the defaults screen
to allow users to specify what database file should be
loaded by default each time the program is executed. (This
can be overridden by specifying an alternate database name
on the command line.) A "Video Mode" selection has also
been added to the defaults screen. This allows users to
select the number of lines CompuSlave uses for display.
Available values are 25, 28, 43, and 50.

What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.08
──> Maintenance Release
CompuSlave Version 1.08 fixes a couple of minor problems.
One problem, where corruption would appear in the message
number field of the "Go To Message #" dialog box is fixed.
Another problem, where the browser came up with 0 entries
when Response was selected, has been fixed. (This problem
was only apparent when 2 or more responses existed to the
current message.)
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.07
──> Maintenance Release
CompuSlave Version 1.07 fixes a couple of minor problems in
the searching routines, and changes the 100-record per
import limit to a strict 500-record total database limit.
The code has been significantly enhanced to improve accuracy
and reduce the chance for potential problems to occur.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.06
──> Enhanced Searching Capability!
A "Limit Search" option has been added to allows users to
limit the range of message numbers that are included in a
search when "Search Entire Message" is selected. Users can
check the "Limit Search" option and enter the beginning and
ending message numbers to search a smaller portion of the
database. For a complete list of revisions, see the file
CSLAVE.REV.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.05
──> Faster Searching, Enhanced Network Support!
A "Fast Search" option has been added to allows users to
increase the speed of the searching process by placing a
"Read Lock" on the entire database to prevent other users
from writing to it. This can produce search speeds up to 3
times as fast as when Fast Search is disabled. (If Fast
Search is enabled, other users CANNOT make changes to the
database during a search.) A simple retry option has also
been added to allow network users to retry an operation when
it fails due to a network locking error. (Previously, the
operation would be aborted after an attempt failed due to a
locking error.)
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.04
──> Enhancements!
Even more enhancements! A status screen has been added to
the printing process for a visual indication of the
completion of the process. Termination of the printing
process is now allowed by pressing Escape. A custom exit
Page 3
procedure has also been added in the event that a Runtime
error should occur. The exit procedure will display the
error message and the program location that caused the
error. Additional network security issues have been
addressed, as well. For a complete list of revisions, see
the file CSLAVE.REV.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.03
──> Minor Problem Fixes
CompuSlave version 1.03 fixes a few minor problems, such as
including the "Keyword" field on printouts, non-stop
printing when printing more than 255 messages in the
database, enhanced network support, and more. For a
complete list of revisions, see the file CSLAVE.REV.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.02
──> Enhancements!
CompuSlave version 1.02 contains several more enhancements!
The original and response buttons are now disabled when an
original or response message does not exist. The database
management library has been updated, and CompuSlave can now
print all messages in the database at one time.
What's New in CompuSlave Version 1.01
──> Enhancements!
Many enhancements have been added to CompuSlave version
1.01, such as a wider browser screen, the ability to sort
the database based on any of the indexed fields, monochrome
support, and more. For a complete list of revisions, see
the file CSLAVE.REV.
